Petwise is a pet care website for everyday owners. We write practical guides on feeding, housing, behavior, grooming and health for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals, reptiles, fish and a few less common pets such as ducks, pigs and hedgehogs.
Why Petwise exists
Good pet care information is often scattered, contradictory or buried in jargon. Petwise brings the practical parts together in one place. Each guide answers a specific question, explains the reasons behind the advice and gives you clear next steps you can use at home.
How we write our guides
Our articles are researched, written and edited by the Petwise Editorial Team. We are pet care writers, not veterinarians, so we do not diagnose or replace your vet. We build each guide from published guidance from veterinary references, university veterinary schools, animal welfare organizations and public health agencies, and many guides list their main sources at the end so you can check them yourself.
When a topic involves health or safety, we explain which signs mean it is time to get professional help, and we never give medication doses or suggest home treatment for problems that need a vet. Our articles are not currently reviewed by veterinarians. You can read exactly how we research, check, update and correct our guides in our Editorial Policy.
Who Petwise is for
Petwise is for first-time owners getting ready for a new animal, for experienced owners who want a clear answer to a specific question, and for anyone weighing up whether a particular pet is right for them.
What you will find here
